The Letters

At least three letters from Albert Glenville Lafferty (1830 AR – 1921 CA) are known to exist and they may be in the possession of a descendant of Albert’s. Scanned images of the letters were provided by Mary Lafferty Wilson. These poignant responses by L.D. Lafferty to the communications from his oldest son will tug at your heart strings, although they carefully make no mention of the second family with whom he may be living in Texas.

1874: February 7

The first news he has received from his Arkansas family since before the Civil War.

1874: December 5

This letter mentions that long years ago he has procured land in Texas for his children

1876: April 14

A letter from Goliad with complaints about post Civil War crime and drought in Texas.
